Caledonia is located about 30 miles south of Grand Rapids, originally settled in 1838 by Asahel Kent from Ohio. Once known for being a farm city, it is now better recognized as a commuting city to Grand Rapids. The city lies on the hills of Emmons Lake, possessing the perfect balance of city and country life.

Caledonia holds an annual Independence Day Celebration complete with a parade and fireworks. There are also other week long community events within the city, such as Art In and Western Week.
